MAIN EVENTS IN THIS EPISODE
Two new prisoners, Karen Travers and Lynn Warner, arrive at Wentworth Detention Centre. Karen has been sentenced to life imprisonment for killing her husband, Lynn to 10 years for kidnapping a child. They meet the staff and the other prisoners. The Governor is Erica Davidson. Her deputy is nasty officer Vera Bennett. They also meet nice officer Meg Jackson. Prisoner top dog Bea Smith burns Lynn's hand in the steam press. Bea's rival, lesbian Franky Doyle, makes a move at Karen. Other prisoners we see are oldies like Lizzie Birdsworth and Mum Brooks and youngsters like Doreen Anderson and Marilyn Mason. We also see prison doctor Greg Miller and electrician Eddie Cook. Greg was earlier engaged to Karen. Marilyn and Eddie start a relation. Prisoner Sally Lee hangs herself. We are hinted that Karen was maltreated by her husband and that Lynn is innocent.
